Course Description
The theme of this course is to integrate IT technologies with culture heritage to have the Mobile Digital Culture Heritage (M-DCH). In contrast to the Digital Culture Heritage (DCH), which may emphasize on utilizing some 2/3D animation technologies to have virtual exploring of culture heritage in a screen, M-DCH mainly emphasizes on walking into the sites of culture heritage by carrying with some handheld devices to have the physical exploring of culture heritage. That is, the purpose of M-DCH is to have the on-site exploring of the physical culture heritage through the wireless-mobile-digital assistance of some IT technologies. This course is based on the self-made M-DCH platform called Demodulating and Encoding Heritage (http://deh.csie.ncku.edu.tw), which contains a web system and several APPs. Four parts of this course are (1) tutorial of M-DCH, (2) practice and usage of the DEH platform, (3) content creation and the applications of M-DCH using the DEH platform, (4) students’ presentations of their projects using the DEH platform. After taking this course, students are expected to (1) learn what M-DCH is, (2) understand the general and advanced functions that an M-DCH platform should provide, (3) be able to use a real M-DCH platform to create contents and have the practical applications of M-DCH, (4) have the brain storming about the potential business models of utilizing M-DCH. This course is (1) classified as the cross domain’s creative network applications and services of Information Communication&Literature History for M-DCH and (2) a flipped and multi-discipline course trying to offer a rendezvous to let students from different backgrounds and knowledge to take a course together. Students from different colleges are welcomed to take this course.
Additionally, this course will try to help junior high schools to establish the “School Defined Courses (SDC)” based on the theme of University Social Responsibility (USR). Thus, the term project will co-work with junior high school’s students to work out some sites’ mobile digital culture heritage.
